Open to the public since May 1, 2005, Xixi Wetland Park, located at the end the Hangzhou-Beijing canal near the western edge of Hangzhou in China, offers tourists a serene and educational view of a beautiful wetland preservation space. Xixi also features many restored cultural sites, like temples and pavilions, a fishing village, and facilities built to facilitate China’s ancient silk industry. Over 3.46 square kilometers (with over 6 square kilometers more in the process of reclamation), the park is sure to delight the wildlife, nature, and culture enthusiast alike.

What to Expect
When you arrive at the park, you’ll see that it largely consists of shallow, navigable waterways. You can explore the park more thoroughly, and give yourself a slight rest, if you take a boat. However, you are also free to explore the park’s trails on foot.

Take time to explore the many restored buildings as well as the new installations. The modern central building houses an educational center. If possible, time your visit to coincide with one of the many festivals celebrated at the park.
